About This Class

Self-Defense Grounded in How the Body Actually Works

Most self-defense classes teach technique in isolation. In the Real Self Defense goes deeper — connecting the mechanics of effective strikes to the body's own anatomy. Jason Paquette draws on years of martial arts experience and a deep understanding of human physiology to show you exactly why certain techniques work, not just how to perform them.

This 2-hour group class is open to all experience levels. You will leave with practical skills, a clearer understanding of your own body, and the confidence that comes from knowing you can protect yourself and the people you care about.

Why It Works

What You Will Learn and Experience

Pressure Points & Lymph Node Clusters

In self-defense, pressure points that coincide with major lymph node clusters overlap with sensitive nerve and vascular structures, causing acute pain and disorientation when struck. Understanding this connection means your techniques are anatomically grounded — not just memorised movements.

Real Anatomy, Real Results

Jason teaches you to target areas where nerve bundles, blood vessels, and lymphatic tissue converge — the same points that bodyworkers treat for healing. In a self-defense context, these same locations become powerful tools for creating distance and stopping a threat.

Practical Techniques for All Levels

No prior martial arts experience required. The class is structured so beginners build confidence quickly while experienced practitioners deepen their anatomical understanding and refine their precision.

Body Awareness & Confidence

Learning how your body works — and how to use it effectively — builds a quiet, grounded confidence that extends well beyond the class. Students consistently report feeling more present, more aware, and more at ease in daily life.

Small Group Environment

Classes are kept intentionally small so Jason can work with each participant directly, correct form in real time, and ensure everyone leaves with techniques they can actually use.

Wellness & Self-Defense United

The same anatomical knowledge that informs lymphatic drainage and energy healing at Harmony@Home informs this class. Self-defense and wellness are two sides of the same coin — knowing your body protects it in every context.

The Class

What to Expect in 2 Hours

01

Warm-Up & Body Awareness

The class opens with movement and breathwork to bring everyone into their body. Jason introduces the anatomical framework — explaining how pressure points, lymph nodes, and nerve clusters relate to one another before any technique is taught.

02

Core Techniques

Working in pairs, participants learn a focused set of practical strikes and escapes. Each technique is taught with its anatomical rationale — you understand not just what to do, but why it works on the human body.

03

Scenario Practice

Techniques are applied in realistic, low-pressure scenarios so participants can feel how the skills translate to real situations. Jason coaches each pair through the scenarios, adjusting for body type and experience level.

04

Integration & Q&A

The final segment slows down for reflection, questions, and a brief discussion of how the anatomical principles from this class connect to the broader wellness work at Harmony@Home. Participants leave with a clear sense of what to practise and how to continue building.
